My name is Ellise Ramos and I’m a thirty-something adult living in the suburbs, living with an ancient evil, malevolent force in the form of a cat called Sharptooth, drowning in books when I’m not wrestling with my toddler.

I am no longer trying to inject coffee into my veins because the lord knows I have more than enough energy for the endless thoughts in my mind.

I’ve always thought of writing as my purpose. And today, I begin with the intent of living my days shaping this purpose into a gift for the world.

My goal is to create space for others to transform silence into story. I see this as a way to activate community and movement—to help those that are often marginalized and overlooked find strength in their authentic voice. We are living at the cusp of history and I believe writing can serve as a form of resistance: a way of remembering, of insisting on humanity, of refusing erasure.
